Jonny 1, Yes Dairyland is still there. I haven't talked to them yet. I lost my job in January beecause of the economy, (they said). 550 people were let go. I drove fork lift for Quad Graphics (printing co) for 11 years. So I had alot of interaction with truck drivers over the years. I saw alot of changes in the trucking industry and my job. I did ok with my finances when I was at Quad. So if I do'nt find a job right away I will be ok for a couple years. I took alot of pride in my work, and I just dont see that in the younger folks anymore. I hope the US can change things around. If not were all screwed. Thanks for your opinions, keep the wheels rolling.

    Free,

Did "quad" buy the old Perry Printing plant in Baraboo or did you work in another city? I worked for them for a summer in the binery, the old fluff and fold. and I worked down in Waterloo at their other plant for a while till the Milwaukee Journal bought them out and out wages got cut in half. I have delivered to quad's plant in Sussex, WI...I remember they had a weight room.

P.S. If you can survive on $500 a week for a couple years, it might be a good thing? I would assume working at Quad, you have been used to a pretty good living.

    Jonny 1,
RR Donelly bought out Perry in Baraboo. I tried to get a job there. They said I was over qualified. WTF!! I worked at Quad in Hartford WI, When I couldnt get enough hours in Hartford. I would work in the Quad plant in Lomira WI. Quad was a good company. But like alot of industries they are cutting the fat. They are hiring younger people for lower wages who think they can do the same job. little do they know you get what you pay for. Quad lost alot of GOOD people. Its really sad the 50 some thing people are loosing there jobs homes life and familys. I would like to say F##K the US goverment. Sorry for ranting on but I think you all can relate.

I guess it was Hartford and not Sussex I was at.......man that would have been a drive everyday!! Hope it all works out...If I were you, I would hit up Job Service and try to get into Fox Valley Tech in Appleton, thats one of the top 10 schools in the US. maybe they would cover your housing for 8 weeks......with all the taxes you pay in WI, they should cover something!!
