Thank you everyone. I do appreciate your thoughts on this. I don't understand how people can get upset when they asked the question in the first place. I try not to do that because we are adults and I need to be a role model to my children. So thank you.
As far as I'm concerned 16 is way to young to be driving. I didn't drive until I was 19. I didn't allow my daughter to drive until she was 18. She got her license just before her birthday in August and had her big accident the following April. After that she really straightened up her driving. She is now 21 and the only incident is that accident. That was definitely not her fault. I know this because I was in the passenger seat when it happened. She was doing everything right when at the last second the teen driving the F250 decided he could make it in front of my Prius and ended up driving over the front of my car. Even the cop that we called when they tried to pin it on her said it was not her fault because they were supposed to stay at the stop sign.
I do agree. I don't feel she is ready yet to drive something that big. But never is a long time. We talked about it last night and decided that waiting until she is older, more mature, and her record clears up won't be to bad. She's of course not happy but understands. I don't want her having to go to a bottom feeder company to get work. I want her to learn how to be a better trucker not a crap one. Who knows maybe later she will find something else she likes better.
As for the daughter/females in trucking...... This momma is going to have to disagree with that. It's in the attitude. I live by a motto "Water off a ducks back". In any encounter I take away what I want and let the other things slide off. I've been around truckers all my life so not really surprised anymore by the things they come up with. Seeing men jacking off in their trucks while staring at me doesn't bother me. I can't let it or I would have lost my mind a long time ago. Of course it really helps that I'm with my trainer still. I know things are going to get rough when I'm on my own but I won't let it get to me.
Starboy, that is what we were thinking. Teaming with her I could watch her closely and help if she needed it. Plus we would have all the money going to one household.
Good job Avenger.I'm really hoping my daughter will do the same and turn things around. So far she has learned her lesson and is doing really well with her driving. She used to be one of those dingbats who just had to be in front of the trucks no matter how close she was to her exit. Now she just stays behind when she is near her exit because it's safer.
Thanks again everyone.![]()

"She was a typical idiot teen when she got her regular license and ended up with 3 accidents. 1st was when she backed to far and hit the bumper of another vehicle. Would not have been reported as we were going to take care of it until we got the bill. It was over $1700 because of back up sensors. #2 was her swerving for an animal going to fast on wet/icy roads and flipped around in the ditch resulting in a ticket "driving with wheels off road". #3 was her wake up call. She walked away from a crash that should have seriously hurt if not killed her because she was doing at least 60 in a 25 and crashed into a telephone pole. That one resulted in a negligent driving 2nd degree."
Which one is it? -
She had 3 that were her fault. 1) backing into someone, 2) swerved to avoid an animal resulting in ticket #1, and 3) totaled bosses car into telephone pole resulting in ticket #2 - negligent driving.
There is a 4th accident on her record that she was not at fault for. A teen decided his big pickup could cross the road in front of my car that she was driving and he ended up driving over the front of my car because there was no way she could stop in time. The cop cleared her because the teen had the stop sign not her.
I do not know why they put it in her record but she needs to go get a copy of the police record that proves it's not her fault for my insurance.
I only count the 3 against her because they were her fault not the 4th.
Sorry, I reread what I typed and I meant to say since her big accident there has only been the 1 incident that was not her fault. -
Ahhh, that makes sense. I was under the impression that accidents were coded either at fault or not at fault. May be different where you are.
TruckerGonnaBe Thanks this. -
I'm not sure how they list it where I'm at but I know it's on her record because we pulled her record not long ago when she decided she wanted to go to school with me. There was to much on there for her to go so it was put off.
Now we know it'll be a good long while before she can think about it. It will be good for her. She can mature in the mean time. -
Is there a vehicle code next to the accident?
Check this site out. Look at the second page left column and you can see what I'm talking about as far as classifying accidents. Your local DMV or whatever it's called in your state may have something similar.

The only possibility she has to get a license and drive a rig, is going and paying for the school herself after the suspension has been lifted, then hire on with a pop/mom company or drive with an o/o for at least 2 years.. there's almost no way any insurance company will take her unless she outright owns the rig and the premium will be tremendous.
-
I'm having her check on those codes now.
I'm also having her check on her suspension. I believe she got her license back right about 2 years ago because it will be 3 years since her last accident in April and it was after that she lost her license. We would be privately paying for her school when it's time.
