Totally depends on where the house is .
semi rural areas , an hour away from a major city, a modest home in a couple of acres is easily accessible for $100-125k
My uncle passed about four years ago and he owned a nice sturdy brick ranch on five acres with a 20x40 shop , about ten minutes from a wal mart in a small town in alabama between Montgomery and Mobile .
It took his kids 18 months to sell it for $85k
my first house was a 650 square foot on seven acres , it’s worth about $175k now.
my cousin has two acres in north east Georgia with a double wide mobile home , on a paved road , (room for truck parking but the road is too steep and curvy )he’s been trying to sell for three years , for $65k
if you want a brand new 3000 sf home twenty minutes from downtown of a city of five million people, yeah, it’s gonna be $500k or more
if you want a modest home on two acres on a paved county road two hours away from that city of five million , $150k will get it , if you can stomach the thought of living in a double wide mobile home on that two acres , $70k will get it .
Is my goal doable?

I live in East Central Florida. Melbourne to be specific I found a carrier I want to join and that is Indian river, transport or Davis out of Starke. KLLM is another one I’m considering. Roehl is another one. Last, but not least, if Caroll Fullmer took students, I would be all over them.
i’m not interested in a lease purchase deal. Having worked in auto parts for the past eight years it gets kind of boring. I’ve done everything from delivery to working the counter and plus I’m not one for unloading my own freight. -

I assumed by your handle that you resided in Tacoma, WA. That's what I get for assuming! -
For those wondering, my user name comes from me owning a 2015 Toyota Tacoma and me owning two cats. Bella and the brattiest of the bunch lord Pikachu.

Hey man, might want to rethink that weight loss sugary, just do what I did and turn your truck into a health machine and Exercise daily. I don’t know how overweight you are but I lost about 50 pounds in 120 days. And it was easy. I basically eat the same foods at the same times every day. Super healthy, feel good, driving is easy now, never tired, blood pressure is perfect, no more pre diabetic symptoms etc. all gone! Bam! That surgery can get complex for some.

2. When I mix this up I make myself an almond whey protein shake it has Spirulina, other green powders etc. i’ll put this up in the cupholder and I drink this down about two hours later while driving.
3. Other mornings I’ll have a couple of scrambled eggs that I put on two small zero carb tortillas, yeah they make zero carb tortillas now, and then I’ll put some salsa on them.
4. Big spinach salad with tomatoes, cucumbers, grilled chicken, crumbled hard-boiled egg, blueberries, feta cheese and a light dressing.
5. For a snack I will have a protein cookie I usually get the chocolate chip one. These have 15 g of protein, only 4 carbs, and they’re about 200 cal.
6. Dinner i’ll have some type of grilled meat, either steak like a New York strip, filet, chicken, salmon, pork tenderloin, and then I’ll have like some mixed vegetables with mushrooms with it.
while driving I usually munch down some sunflower seeds
I also buy those new flavored tuna or chicken packets, and I’ll put those on the zero carb tortillas with salsa for a little snack every once in a while. You can have two of these and it’s less than 200 cal and they’re tasty.
I don’t drink any soda, juices or junk, just coffee, tea or water.
Now sometimes I’ll mix it up and I’ll make myself like a chicken curry with just vegetables no rice or I’ll add cauliflower rice to it. But pretty much I stick to the above most of the time.
lost 50 pounds in 4 months. The craving for carbs goes away after about 4-5 days.MaineRoad96, Boondock and ibcalm19 Thank this. -
To save $200k over 5yrs driving for a mega, you'll have to live a life of self denial. Even living in the truck 300 days out of the year will cost you. All the cheap 'food' is bad for your weight loss goals and all of the healthy food is extremely perishable. Indian River would probably pay the best out of the companies you listed but, as they're a tanker company, you'd be unloading all your freight, (something you said you're against).
I lived the way saving money requires and it's not easy. I had everything in storage. The only bills I had were storage, phone and food. Even with a refrigerator and stove in truck it was difficult to really save money and eat healthy. And then there are the long days when you don't feel like preparing your own dinner and you eat at a truckstop and feel like garbage for two days after because you aren't used to that poison being in your system.
I'm not trying to discourage you, it's just that what looks great on paper doesn't translate to real world very well.CalculatedRisk Thanks this.
