Bit of an older topic, but, if you're looking to get heavier, without having to go the double-framed route, you could look at a vocational frame (3/8-inch). You'll get a stouter (thought not as stout as a double) frame without as much weight (still gonna' get more weight with it). As has been noted, the gearing's quite important as well. Remember, with 2-spd. rear ends that you're going to lose the ability to have full Detroit lockers on the truck. There is the option of doing a 2-spd. box, but, this is a heavier set-up. On 46,000-lb. rears you'll gain about 180-lbs. from 2-spd. rears. Eaton's AT-1202 2-speed auxiliary box offers a 2.04:1 underdrive and 1.00:1 direct gear, twin-countershafts, as well as the option to mount your wet kit off the auxiliary box. The 1202 will weigh in at about 354-lbs. A heavier set-up, but, it gets you good gear reduction, as well as allowing full-locking rears on the truck.

all depends on the driver. motors good, tranny correct. the rears are a bit light. When they go put in 46k 4:10 or 4:11...hammer down
