lol, some of you really dont get it. tell me who else is even trying to do anything about trucking issues??? probably the same ones at the counter knowing everything.
ooida has won several fights over leasing thru the years, and the eobr cannot go forward in 2013 because the bill prohibited funding from being used to do that for 2013.
in fact as the highway bill is written the eobr it requires does not yet exist, the current eobr's dont meet the requirements. the highway billcalls for a biometric device to ensure which driver is behind the wheel, and we all known how well the biometric twic card has worked out.
just because someone couldnt write rv hauler insurance is no reason they are bums, when i pulled modular and mobile homes i had different insurance companies for those and different for the flats and the reefer for cargo , and i also had to have unowned trl.
ins . to me is secondary to ooida memebership, i do mine to have somewhat of a voice in washington.
straight up question and be truthful, of all the naysayers how many of you have written your congressman or any government official or sent an e-mail to thier office?
if you arent going to do it yourself, any help ooida can provide is well worth the price of membership.
and the main player that wont accept ooida ins???? landstar, but of course there is absolutely no connection to the court case ooida brought against them, of course not.
Is OOIDA worth it?

dang, hauling them rv's must have made you fellows bitter old biscuits. whoever thunk up getting an rv hauler to wash the bugs off or get charged, is still laughing.
when a guy told me that i fell over laughing -
Depending on the application (what you're doing) OOIDA can be helpful. For instance just being a member you get free BOC-3 filing on your authority, which saves you about $75. That pays for the membership right there. You also can call them for legal / industry advice, they will evaluate lease agreements, and provide member discounts on a lot of consumables. Their insurance was the lowest I had quoted, but I paid an extra $20 and got progressive which is top rated and not rejected by anyone. The OOIDA quote I got was $4700. See my last post in the insurance thread docked for more info on that.
Good luck. Be safe. -
In my opinion, OOIDA is a joke. they dont care about people safety. They r the ones that dont want eobr's in the trucks. if they really cared about people safety they would be all for the ebor's but they dont..

Joe Paterno did many great things over the years and will be remembered most for one thing.
For me, when OOIDA fought for increase broker bonds that was a Paterno moment for them. I don't want the government telling me they will protect me - I can make my own risk assessment. AND I SURE AS HELL DON'T WANT THE ASSOCIATION THAT I SUPPORT TELLING ME HOW TO RUN MY BUSINESS.
As soon as we can make sure that our drug consortium has been transferred and we are legal I will be canceling our membership (not letting it expire - cancel).
I vote for people to represent me that support my right to run my business as I see fit. And I sure as hell won't support an organization that feels that they and the government know what is best for my company.
