I think you save 10 bucks or something
Hulld Thanks this. -

Although it’s nice to save 10 bucks this is the trucking business and passing up a 10.00 discount to get moving forward quicker is not even worth worrying about.
In the words of that famous uship hauler Roy Garber..
“Let’s go nickel holding up a dollar “exhausted379 and starmac Thank this. -
You are correct but if I can save $10 why not? I am still going to sign up anyways just looking for discount if it is available

No one here knows you so they won’t refer you.

$45 membership for OOIDA got me a $1,000 rebate on my new Kenworth.
As for recent victories, I count the Minnesota "fatigued driver" scam to be right up there. Plus Minnesota had to pay back ALL fines levied based on Federal laws for several years, because it turned out they let their federal endorsements lapse....
When you hit States in the pocket book like that, your political influence becomes large, quickly.
Not a fan of several of their positions, including their vehement opposition to over 80K trucks (with that mentality, we'd still be running two axle trucks all over the place), and they do have a Don Quixote complex about several things like ELD's.
On the other hand, they did good work with the sleep apnea scam that was close to being railroaded through the system.
Not a fan of their drug consortium, expensive and poor service in our area, but other services are good. Haven't tried their insurance services.
Until there's a better organization, I'll stick with this one.flood, kemosabi49, Kings Logistics and 2 others Thank this. -
Sorry to take this one off track but I really disagree... The last thing we want is for 80,000 gvw to be raised. The only people who support that are mega carriers. Guess what happens if 80,000 lb weight limits get raised to whatever level. Less loads for the same amount of trucks. If you raise that limit to 100,000 lbs per truck then 400,000 lbs of freight only requires 4 trucks when it required 5 trucks at an 80,000 lb gvw limit. What happens to rates when you have too many trucks and not enough loads? Obviously rates will go down.
Look at what happened to rates on Friday afternoon weekend loads when they took away the limits on 34 hour reset a few years ago. They went in the toilet and will never recover especially since ELD's are here to stay. Weekend loads with longer miles picking up on a friday delivering monday used to be a gold mine of leverage when we were restricted to only one 34 hour reset a week that also had to have a 24 hour period of downtime between 1am and 5am. Drivers hated that rule but the truth is when they gave us unlimited 34 hour resets we gave away better rates and are working harder because of it. That was a victory for the megas who love paying drivers peanuts while suppressing rates for smaller companies. Regulations that strangle available capacity and make it more difficult to find trucks are what we need.Last edited: Sep 29, 2019
