I believe you may be presuming, assuming or speculating about something that does not exist in any of the answers to the OP's question. Yes, please expound on your conjecture.

    buddyd157 Thanks this.

    But no pain, no gain.

The question is, how much pain are you willing to endure for how much gain?

McUzi, D.Tibbitt and hopeful eyes Thank this.

Who needs pain? I’m getting a decent paycheck, with decent benefits, and the bad week I had last week (breakdown, towing, repair, then trailer tire and tandem valve repair) didn’t cost me anything but a little time (and, being on salary, didn’t cost me mileage money).

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying anyone who wants to be an owner operator shouldn’t go for it, I’m just saying that it’s not for everyone, or even most of us.

    gentleroger and Tb0n3 Thank this.

I recently got my authority and these guys aren't blowing smoke. It is a massive amount of extra work tracking everything and keeping up with the paperwork. The red tape is endless to stay compliant, getting setup with brokers, the new entrant safety audit etc etc.
Right now it seems like I'm making a lot more money but all that has to go into the company emergency fund. Breakdowns, cargo claims, ####ing deer strikes, missing something on a pre trip and getting an OOS on my first level one. All #### that can end this game just weeks after I've spent thousands of dollars and invested weeks of time in getting up and running.
    Just something to think about.

tarmadilo, Badmon and Tb0n3 Thank this.
