Can you link us to the DOT site that specifies this? I cannot say I have ever heard of it either.

Told to me by a highway patrol ,
If your state does not have or issue a card,carry a copy of long form medical examine.

It saves time to have a copy with you any time you drive a CMV


Simple terms. Keep a copy of a medical card, or long form. One or the other is proof. Don't rely on your DMV to keep or process your medical card onto your license.

 

I've always tucked the long form in the permit book.

 

I've always been told to keep the long form in the truck too. And send a copy to whatever company you work for so they can have it for audit purposes.

 

i never carried my long form with me...ever..(other than when we owned our own truck ).just my medical card in my wallet. i know there is a debate on this, but its NOT the DOTs business about your medical history....the only thing they need to know is IF you are qualified....i was never asked for the long form in all my years driving...nor was hubby and this is his 31st year....i hardly ever got asked for my med card either....usually truck papers, and my CDL....i know this wasnt the original question....just made me think of it is all....

 

I have never, ever carried my long form papers either. As you say it's none of thier business, they only need the card as proof of qualification. A simple phone call to the company and they can get that information regarding a valid card, as the employer gets a carbon copy, or at the very least, takes a photo copy for the records.

NONE of the links provided above, DO NOT SAY one must have the long form with them. If I missed it then someone please give an ACTUAL LINK to the DOT that states one MUST carry the long form, other wise, it's typical trucker's counter talk.
