As a company driver, don't you know what you need to live on? They do. And as a L/P driver you'll get enough to make the truck payment, and pay for fuel so you can continue to generate revenue for them. They know the math.
You got PLEANTY of good information here! Only problem is....you only SEE the 4 or 5 that you WANNA see. You wanna go drive for these guys dude? DO IT! You're are and were going to any way, regardless of what you read here.
Why did you ask any way? You wannabie's come here and ask questions....yet you never seem to like the answers.Last edited by a moderator: Jan 18, 2014

I agree that the OP came here looking for only positive responses. Go with Prime since they are better than CR England. Try to get on with their tanker division.

Just ignore George and take the good with the bad. I have been looking at Prime and as a newbie , seems like a good starter company.
I like to try to PM company drivers and get their thoughts on the company and what detailed questions you have. And also check on here good company's, click on Prime and there is a lot of info.
Every time I post a question it is the same way a lot of pros and cons from a lot of good people and then the BS from people who just want to spout off and don't have a clue. PM me sometime and let me know what you decide.Last edited by a moderator: Jan 18, 2014

Let's take a poll
When I read this post, I hear:
1). The piano riff when Micheal Myers is killing on the movie Halloween
or
2). The squealing violin when Norman Bates is stabbing the lady in the shower on the movie Psycho -
Remember,
you're dealing with a training company.
cr england, stevens, prime, .... not a whole lot of difference in them.
Go with the one that looks good to you, and hang on for the ride.
Better companies are available after 6-12 months experience.slowpoke89 Thanks this. -
They pay extra because of how slow you have to drive to keep them from getting rid of you or putting you into one of their coffin trucks.
Here's some food for thought. Let's compare their super awesome payscale versus the rest of the bottom feeder world:
Let's take 1000 miles
Prime:
1000 miles x .37cpm = $370
1000 miles @ 57mph = 17.54 hours
$370/17.54 = $21.09 per hour
US Xpress:
1000 miles x .31cpm = $310
1000 miles @ 68mph = 14.7 hours
$310/14.7 = $21.08 per hour
When it's all said and done it's the same crap as any other bottom feeder except the fact that you are basically a moving roadblock and/or live in a coffin, or as they call it "lightweight truck".
This companies are just there to get your cdl and exploit your cheap labor, choose the one that suits you best (terminal close to home, health insurance, whatever) then when you get a bit of experience start looking for a real job that's going to make your investment worth it. Or, if you do your research, avoid them altogether and start with a better choice. But I don't know anything in California so I can't help you on that department.TruckerGeorge91 and Dinomite Thank this. -
LMAO whaat
I guess this is the type of people that can be happy at Prime, people that get excited over breakfast at meetings, meetings you aren't getting paid for, am I right? -
The only advantage to a "lighter truck", is so you can haul more freight and stay under the 80,000 lbs.
If you are not being paid by Percentage of Revenue...you are STILL heavy when that truck is loaded...and the extra revenue generated by the extra freight is all to the company since they are paying you a mileage rate. Your "light truck" is only saving you fuel when you're empty.
Food for thought. -
Ok folks enough arguing please!
sevenmph, 123456, d o g and 1 other person Thank this.
