I won't do cards and when you run out of cash check is all you get left. Guess I really don't pay a whole lot of attention to how long it takes to get paid. Took one guy local here 18 months to pay, that's the last time a hauled anything without involving any sort of broker.

Guess I figure nobody can steal your identity off the internet if it's never there to begin with. I won't even check account balances online.

I get annoyed when brokers WONT pay me by check. We pay all our carriers with checks. I don’t see what the big deal is. I also am more of a traditionalist and all of these online service take their cut which I don’t like either.

There’s just something that feels better about a check, like it’s real money vs numbers on a screen that don’t mean much. Give me a stack of checks or cash any day.

We're the opposite there. I use a credit card with a low available credit for everything, and then pay it off monthly. That insulates my bank account from card skimmers, and that kind of thing as opposed to using my actual debit card. And if someone gets ahold of the card, it's not enough available credit to worry about while the card company sorts it out. I keep spare cash for tolls, but that's it.

The big deal for me is people think "NET 30" means "drop the check in the mail on the 30th day". That kind of thing pisses me off. I want my money by day thirty. If the post office loses the check, that's YOUR ####ing problem. Pay me. I hauled the ####ing freight, so stop dicking me around.

Everything in my business gets put onto an Amex Platnium card.

All my AP, fuel, repairs, EVERYTHING.

I’ve been on 3 first class vacations for free from points so far.

I’ve also only had the account for 7 months so far hahaha

I have no idea how that all started but my guess is 100 yrs ago you sent a check 7 days after the invoice was received, and then it took 21 days to be delivered. lol.

Then, my guess is the big companies are so in efficient they just kept up with it. I really would be interested to know how that all started.

Our brokerage takes about a week to get invoices, sometimes 10 days since a lot of people factor. Then we send out around 14 to 17 days, and end up with around a 21 days to pay. Probably one of my largest customer pays around 60 days and sometimes it can run a little longer if their system kicks anything back. That’s a lot of time to float to keep all the prima Donna carriers happy. LOL seriously just kidding there. Sometimes we have to chase the carrier down and harass them just to get an invoice, a handful every year never send a bill ever. It’s pretty wild.

As a carrier as long as we’re paid by the broker by 45 days I don’t get huffy about it, but the ones that pay like clock work at 21 to 30 days certainly gets noticed. If you go past 45 we kick it to the surety bond and get the money right away, it doesn’t happen often though and you black list them and move on.
