Some drivers are just that..Drivers.
Locomotive engineers don't have to work on the thing..Airplane pilots also have to do a pre-flight,but don't work on them either.
EDIT:..Maybe you are just referring to a Owner Op..Otherwise,no I don't need to work on the thing..And wont.
is Road Squad really that bad?

add to that you want to see the old parts and an estimate of required repairs and an explanation of what they are going to do and the reason. then watch them. My trk very rarely goes to a shop. I do all maintenance myself. But when I do have the rare occasion to visit one. I will not give them my business unless ?i watch what they do repairs

ta is isn't good for much
went in to have a alignment (my truck)... when it was done the mechanic went home i paid, went out to the truck and why is it leaning to 1 side..? when i checked i find the air line going to the airbag is BROKEN OFF.... shop manager said it must have been that way when it came in untill i showed where his mechanic had put a new clean shiny cap on the line (truck was all covered with salt except the cap on the air line...
had a PM done on a company truck... when it was done we went to bed. idled, got up about 4hr's later to go inside and found about 1 gl. of FUEL on the ground..... didn't replace the seal on the fuel filter....
had a pm and dot done on a company truck it passed. next morning i went to do my pre trip and oil all over the ground.... 2 filter lose and leaking and a broken leaf spring...!!
had a wheel seal replaced and they broke the ABS wheel sensor...... the list goes on...
it got so bad that the company woun't let us go to them for repairs..... i was sitting at a ta and need a trailer ligh repaired and the company had me drive to the flying j (across the street) so they could have someone come out to fix it -
Had a trailer blow an airline, so I was stuck by the side of the road. Had no choice.
Guy comes out, can't really fix it, ended up caging the brakes and leading me back to the shop. (nothing like driving in the 15th hour, in the dark with no trailer brakes, trying to keep up with an F-350 on country back roads. I mean, if you're gonna drive illegal, don't half ### it!)
I feel bad for the kids though, it's a pain in the ### to climb under those things all day and wrestle with rust.
Compared to cars, no two trailers are alike, between prior patch fixes and different specs, it's like reverse engineering from scratch.
I had my last "project car" years ago. Busted bleeding knuckles, running around to 3 different parts places and spending your weekend covered in grease, just to drive a car that non-car people think of as a junk heap.
The company won't pay me for the repairs and I'll be first in line to be sued if something goes wrong.
I'm done wrenching, let the mechanics make a buck. -
I've had PeTrA mechanics change the air suspension leveling arm in Volvo's without incident. $120 and a free shower.

Jabber, the restaurant isn't open at night because the food sucks. If their food was good...drivers would be coming day and night. As you know, trucking is a 24/7 business. At all times of the day and night there are truckers looking for a good meal. You'll never find that at Country Pride, Country Fare, Fork In The Road, Iron Skillet and whatever new name TA/Petro use to trick us drivers into buying their diarrhea
pottytrain5
inducing slop.
joseph1135 Thanks this. -
Agree..the T/A food is Garbage. They might as well close them all up.
-
i'm not buying that.
I have read many articles saying that truck stop food is better than ever before.
they close the restaurants down because it costs money to be open. if you have no clientele then you are making no money.
there is no parking anywhere between 12 and 4. so there won't be any "new" customers to the truck stop any time soon. odds are everyone is asleep if you're asleep you wont go inside to eat their food.
if their food was really as bad as you claim it is then why are there any of those restaurants open? people won't be eating there
Truck Stop restaurants also have a big competitor that they can't compete with: microwaves. more people have microwaves in their trucks than ever before and can go out and buy microwaves and other assorted kitchen appliances and cook food they brought from home, or bought at Walmart. so they have to compete with that and is nearly impossible to do so.bzinger Thanks this. -
You can read as many articles as you want. Sit down an try the slop at the TA stops. It's WAY overpriced and it's bad. Petro used to have some of the better truck stop food out here, they've gone way downhill since the TA acquisition.

I have
Honestly I think Iron Skillet has slightly better food, in my opinion.
