the TA/Petro restaurants have used a customer service technique I call "bullying"

    you have 3 options

    1) eat their food
    2) go somewhere else
    3) starve

    1) you're already there and you're already short on hours so you're kind of stuck
    2) truck stops are few and far between, and you probably don't have the hours to go to the next palace
    3) we all know that WON'T happen

They used to be heads and tails above anyone. Not anymore. Not even close. The better food is away from the truck stops

I've taken it upon myself to not eat that garbage and cook for me. Piss on the slophouses. Today's menu: chicken Alfredo stuffed shells. I don't even have to tip me for bad service.

Unless I'm in the mood for Popeyes...I never stop at a TA/Petro. The food is inconsistent at Country Pride/Iron Skillet.

Denny's wins the war, and do you realize how bad that is??? You get consistent food at Denny's. It's not Ruth Chris, but you can go to Denny's and know what you're getting. For a pretty fair price too, plus they give you a 10% for being a CDL holder. If you ask, they give you a little thing to put on your keychain or in your wallet and you show it to them and you get the discount.

Denny's wins all arguments, but Denny's has a wider clientele.

it brings in "civilans" as well as drivers. and Denny's is usually in its own little suite so its away from the truck stop and it attracts more people

most of the TA/Petro stores they are located in the truck stop and appeal to the driver. people don't usually want to be affiliated with truckers so that scares them away

I respectfully disagree. I've seen plenty of "civilians" in truck stops. Teens/early 20s, middle age, etc. lots of people eat and stop at truck stops/ travel centers. One of the reasons we have a bad rep is those truck stops. Because they are filthy.

really? who would want to eat the restaurant food at truck stops (not including Dennys of course)

the reason drivers get a bad rap is because, do I need to explain?

lets look at the stereotypical driver:

    overweight
    doesn't hygiene
blames everyone else for his problems
hits on everything with a ######
talks about how great they are

and on rare, but frequent enough occasions:
defecates and urinates in parking lots,
looks like the guy from Duck Dynasty

tell me i'm wrong tell me you've never seen anybody like that.

people don't want to affiliate themselves with those kind of people so that's why truck drivers are laughingstocks and regarded as the kind of people people want nothng to do with. Until we all start to clean our act up we can't change. but we all have to do this together

That is NOT the stereotypical driver. I am the stereotypical driver. The pigs are the exception, not the rule. Most drivers aren't that guy you described.
