I just sold my 1996 Great Dane Spread/Slider... I loved it, but the commies in California and their ARB rules outlawed it. I didn't feel it was worth while putting a new reefer on an old box...

I'm sure this may sound a little strange, but there is nothing better looking than a 48 spread axle, all stainless trailer being yanked down the road by a nice W900L :biggrin_25519:

I want one.... the problem now days is shippers seem to be looking for 53's yet still only load them to 48

I'm sure they weigh more and harder to repair etc. but man are they good looking and with a nice tractor it's like driving a phallic symbol down the road.:biggrin_25514:

anyone pull one and getting loads ?

My trailer is a 48 foot spead axle Great Dane, and I have no trouble. But I do mostly cheese out and produce back.

If you are looking for a 48 ft stainless Dane, there is one for sale in Texas right now that is quite likey the nicest in existance. Dead serious. Look it up on truckpaper.

The ideal trailer for guys like us is a 50 1/2 or 51 foot For those infrequent loads that do pop up from time to time, like bell peppers.

Here's some eye candy for ya bugs. 2005 dane with 41 hours on the unit. I called the dealer on this a few days ago. It has hauled 3 loads, been a show trailer all its life and has always been stored inside. The price to look this cool is $57,000. I like turning heads as much as anyone, but I value $57K in the bank more. It's all yours man!

There are plenty of trailers being retrofitted to meet the California rules... if the box is in good condition why not? You can always split it up when it's time to sell.

WOW, that is nice, but 2005, it would only be good in Kali for 1 year :(

it is what I want or I should say like that

There is a 2007 in Utah for 34900

My 1996 was in ok shape, kemlite was a little rough inside Not worth 10K for a new engine.

I like the idea of a 50.5 or 51 but again it would have to slide to make Kali happy

I've got four 48' reefers(three spreads), one 50 1/2 foot spread, and three 53 footers in my fleet of eight trailers. It does get annoying at times and causes me to miss a few loads due to idiot shippers mandating 53 footers that aren't even needed. For the most part though, I have no problems. Like WinMag, I run meat products, cheese, or dairy south and produce back north.

If that thing were priced about $15,000 less I'd go buy it.
