Indeed?
Actually, some people do have too much wealth. I can think of 1 right now, the US would be better off without. You may not be able to buy an election in this country. But who needs to, when you can buy Politicians by the dozen for less.
The only reason I could see for marrying someone like Britney or Paris...the money. It's a good thing they have money too. Because they have no real world skills (don't even try), and neither passes for marriage material.
Can you actually imagine being married to one of these self centered brats? Contrary to modern belief, nice looking and rich, does not translate to a 10 in bed and a bag of chips.
However had they worked a factory job from age 18-25, they might actually consider the ramifications of their actions. And the impact it has on other peoples lives.
Contrary to popular belief, money is not the root of all evil. But, from the high standards and morals of these 2 women with money. It would certainly seem so, wouldn't it.

Freight rates and slow freight, are 2 differant things. Although they are connected at times.
Sooner or later, companies are going to have to talk with their wallets. And rates will go up. As will pay.
But, slow freight usually commands a lower rate. Simply because it becomes a bidding war as companies scramble to get the loads they need. The big offset this time. HUGE jumps in the cost of fuel.
When I meet a noob or a trainer/student combo that can tell me they got less than 3000 miles last week. Then I'll say that freight MAY be slowing. Although some companies do not allow students to get more than 2500 a week. The majority want as many as they can get out of a newbie or student.
SLOW freight is a companies way of telling you they have drivers that WILL pull the load cheaper than you. It's simple economics.....profits.
Why let a 10 year vet making .44 a mile pull a load 2000 miles? When you can save $320 on a single trip, by putting a new driver under it. -
I never refuse a load if I have the hours available to run it (two loads in four months, I simply could not run legally -- I told them so and they took the loads off me). No accidents, no tickets, no issues. Just a lack of freight, which is what I hear constantly from my DSR. -

Freight is slow at this time of year. Almost every year. It may be a little worse this year than the past couple, but it has been worse than it is now. The big question is which way is it going to go.
Freight will always be here. But we may have to make some adjustments in what we are willing to do to get that freight. . . -

Right now, some companies are having issues with slow freight it appears. Reefer outfits would be one of the leaders in slow freight during non produce periods. Namely because they are not commited to dry goods. Therefor they do not have the commited customer base that dry vans cater to year round. -

You take a double hit when warm weather hits. You have the fresh produce side, and the landscaping (shrubbery) side going all at once.
You'll leave the west coast headed for the east. Then they will move heaven and earth trying to get you back to the west coast for another.
I didn't realize you drove for Roehl. I have talked with a few of the drivers over the past few weeks. And yes, you guys do seem to be in a real slump. It will pick up though.
