    Circa 1988
    Triple Crown Service
    Owned by Norfolk Southern Railroad

they used the RoadRailers , the special built trailers that could slide the train wheels under the back door and connect 200 trailers to one locomotive and run em down the track overnight from Detroit to Atlanta

they were expanding rapidly back then , had terminals in 14 states
they are almost out of business now , I think they have two terminals left .

    Oh yeah

I was in the right place at the right time.
    No question about that .
Company I was working with didn’t have any company tractors or drivers .
    It was all O/O’s
And they didn’t care where the truck came from , and they didn’t have any age restrictions on the tractor , if it had a current annual DOT form , you were good to go .
You could run your base plate or buy theirs .

they truely were trying to help the o/o’s get started by leasing the truck .
It was a walk away lease . Anytime you wanted to quit you just toss em the keys and walk .

I wrecked my lease truck with two payments left , but by then paying $14k for a used 7 yr old tractor was no big deal .
I just told the mechanic i always used , that I needed another rig and asked if he knew of any trucks in good condition for sale .

“Got one sitting in my parking lot , I’ve done all the work on it for the last 5 years , guy just bought a newer one “
