I usually used the "broker stick" on off ramps while pulling company trailers or railroad trailers (before chassis and container). When I sold my tractor, it still had the original linings and drums. They were the harder material used prior to anti-lock brakes. I bought that tractor new in 1973 and sold it in 1982 with 950,000 miles on it.

    ac120 Thanks this.

"broker stick" :biggrin_2559: Never heard it called that! +1 on the miles and original linings.

aaaaaaaaaaahh yes the company jake brake..

I used it regularly in my previous life as an owner/op, it even helped straighten out a jake knifing trailer on occasion in the winter..

Hell it took me a minute to figure out what the poor sob who started this thread was all in a fit about. He is talking about the "trolley" valve which as some of our very noble and kind elders have pointed out has more uses than he realized. Kind like that Hat rack that you have attached to your shoulders. Just kinda got me when he asked about it if he asked his mommy and daddy what his peter was fer when he was a youngin.

Had to give you sum crap about that one cuz I can, I would not be me if I was anything but a wise ### sometimes.

Here we call them "Rat Tail". Johnson bar is the shift lever for a 3 speed transmission (auxilliary).

There used to be a sleazy bar in San Francisco called Big Johnson's. I never thought to ask why, until now. :biggrin_25523:
