Thanks. And here I was thinking that it's all a wasted effort. The guy is in school. He should be giving 100% to learning his craft. What does he choose to focus on? The Village Idiot. Everyone said that there's always an idiot in every class. Everyone knows this. So does the instructors. There's always an idiot and there's always that negative group too...aka "everyone".

in another thread, someone asked about the secrets to success. Start off with your best foot forward right out of the gate. Look at the comments from even experienced drivers, mostly negative. Do not join in negative chatter. Don't even agree. Why? Because someone in that negative group is going to throw your name out to the wrong ears. We hear stories of how an instructor in a school takes a liking to a particular rookie and makes a phone call to a buddy that owns a small fleet. Yes, the instructor puts his name out there for a rookie. Not "everyone", just to that person that stood out from everyone. So while everyone else gets poked and prodded by the recruiters of Moron Trucking to be abused and spit out, the person that stands out can avoid being thrown into the mix with everyone.

Things don't change for most of us when we go to orientation. There will still be a Village Idiot there too. And Everyone is there with the huge cloud of negativity. They have bad things to say about everything. So the desk jockeys know this? Of course they do. Then they match you with a fleet manager according to your personality. What does that mean?

Some drivers do outstandingly. Some never see a paycheck. Same company, same driver manager, dispatcher completely different results. The top driver makes 3x the money of Idiot and 1.5x Everyone else. So knowing that, wouldn't you want to be viewed apart from Everyone? It's not one thing that separates the best from Everyone, it's a multitude of little things. Avoiding Everyone's negative campaign may seem insignificant, but it DOES all up in the big picture.
