Is there much less backing running flatbed?

Maybe he wasn't an idiot but simply a new driver?And why you being an experienced driver didn't offer help?Not cool!

 

That video makes me not want to go to sleep. What all am I missing entertainment wise while passed out?

 

You'll be fine bro. When I started trucking, I was HORRIBLE at backing. I was way worse in training than I was on my own. Eventually you figure it out, and there will be days even after you know you can do it that you screw it up and have to start over. That's trucking!

 

I was exhausted one day last week. Had a straight line back but ended up off center. I pulled up and put her back in but went right into the same off center position. I was inside the lines so screw it I'm going to bed.

Bad backing days happen. But hitting another truck blindsiding into 5 empty spaces. Then continuing to hit other trucks? That's not just a newbie or a bad day. That driver was drunk or high or something.

 

We delivered the 65' bridge beams today, to make the last corner I had to back up 4 times and put the left side of the truck in the rhubarb. My truck is a foot longer than the other two trucks and my trailer stops for the stretch put it 2 feet longer on that. Forest service roads and 65' beams do not work well together.

 

He said he was asleep.

Troy, IL TA at 3:00 am and one parking space left with a 48' spread axle. Took half a dozen pull ups, but got her in there straight to the lines. The problem lining up was because the dock bangers on both sides of me were crooked to the lines and didn't even bother to straighten their tractor to the trailer.

I guess it takes a flatbedder to do it right at the end of a long day (night).
