It depends on the load. I'm still working on a system so I can knock down the time that it is taking me to secure loads. The freight for flatbed right now isn't as consistent as it was pulling vans and reefer, with the exception of it being consistently the same type of freight. It's either freightliner chassis, steel cool, sprinter van, structural steel or rebar. I did turn down one load that was different, which was a load of pvc pipe that they wanted me to take down I80 in Wyoming. I hauled a load of beer from Golden, Colorado down 80 into Salt Lake City and watched a gust of wind pick a fully loaded Prime reefer and toss it from the far right lane to the opposing far right lane. I'd like to keep my cdl, my job and my life, so I wasn't going to take a load that was light as hell, and likely to catch wind like a #### sail when I come around a curve or under an overpass.
Just trying to pay my dues and get experience with different types of loads. What I really want to be hauling is over dimensional, super loads, but obviously I'm not there yet. I'm not even at the right company for that yet.
Is there some secret to sliding tandems exactly where you want.

That's outta my realm... Ryan might know best. -
There is an aluminum round bar with a latch that you put one hole off from where you want to stop the slide. The latch holds the bar in place and can be left in place during transport. The danger is you drop the trailer and forget the bar.
I still have one that I can post a picture if needed -
Just be sure when u line the step up with the first glove u don't move and keep ur head in the same position

I mark the ground even with the edge f my step, holes are aprox 5 inchhes apart, each hole slides about 500 lbs, mark where you are and where you wat to end up, keep in mind slide toward the weight. CA mark is 2,5 panels from thr rear of the trailer. I use a water spray bottle 2 or 3 drop of dawn fill with water. spray rail liberally. Wont draw sand and dirt like oils.
