It would be interesting to see what kind of contract or load confirmation he would send you. I could see how it might be possible for him to offer these loads and charge a fee to you or the shipper or something, but there's no way he can legally accept payment for shipping or be listed on the BOL or anything without an MC#.

He might not need it, but anyone reputable would have #'s...
I'd report him to the proper officials.

We used to haul loads for produce brokers, all the time, like this. They don't need an MC number, because they are moving exempt loads. 50% up front was the norm and no confirmation, as few places even had a fax machine, much less e-mail. Even C. H. Robinson didn't have an MC number, from their start in 1905 until they got into brokering property loads, after the Motor Carrier Act of 1980 allowed them to do so. If this guy is legit, his comany should be listed in the Blue Book.

most of the loads i've been hauling are now paid for before even picked up.

i'm guess the poor economy and people not paying the bills has changed things to a prepay now.

Drugs coming out of Nogales Az.?? I would never think such a thing!!!!! LOL I know personally 1 guy who went from 1 truck to 15 nice Peterbilts with reefers in about a year running out of Nogales, that is until his yard got raided and he lost everything, including his now crack head wife, running those "good paying loads out of Nogales" I'm always very leery about loads that seem to good to be true from a broker I don't know coming from a shipper I don't know especially close to the southern boarder.
