You seem like a smart guy with his act together. But unfortunately companies are less forgiving as you're finding out.Anyway I think most companies require you attend a school rather then gettting cdl on your own.If that is the case I would suggest finding a company willing to give you a chance and then get your CDL.
Is this a stupid idea?

Try the Hope Grant in GA for paid CDL school from lottery proceeds. There are several companies that will hire you once you complete CDL school, even with the record; I know of 4. You can also apply with JBS Carriers & see if they will work with you on a private CDL school in your area; try the online application.

I double-checked some things, and as it turns out, my buddy would have to get $3,000 worth of tires, plus some other things, before his best truck would comply enough to take to the DMV for the test, as he has already had warnings. He apologized and told me he was sorry but he couldn't do that for me, I told him I understood and good luck with the DOT next time their paths crossed...*laughs*
So I guess I have no choice but to suck it up and hope that Drivers Solutions/PAM doesn't screw me over. Thanks everyone, y'all are a great crowd on this site, always a pleasure.

There is something to be said for the standard approach sometimes I forget that for certain realities to take place you need to have visited at least once and the feeling a gun is to your head in a do or die kinda way doesn't hurt either. There almost isnt any better instructor than a near death experience. And trying to teach that would be illegal in a very abrupt sort of way. Go to the trucking schools, because pass or fail you will gain something. The reality you are dealing with insists that you only actually fail when you say so, not some drivers school.

And I've read a lot of threads about experienced drivers not being able to make it as O/O, so I'd want legitimate road experience before I indulged the thought of trying a start-up enterprise of my own.
