under lease regulations you got 15 days to pay, so one week is always in the hole, actually very common in many companies and businesses. preety dadgum hard to figure up paychecks for couple hundred folks after they punch time clocks on friday.
it is commonly known as " they hold back a week" very very common,
but did you not ask how the pay system worked BEFORE you leased there????
Is this acceptable..?

Although I havent done it the following is a good idea...mainly for company drivers but I could see doing it for o/o's. Essentially a friend of mine with 10 trucks does the following: Keeps or holds back $1,000 dollars which typically comes out at $250 week for the first 4 weeks which is held as a deposit or escrow. This is disclosed to drivers before they accept the job. If a driver decides he wants to leave the company and gives two weeks notice he returns the $1000 to them on there final check after turning in the truck, logs, bills, etc...if the driver drops the truck in the yard, under a load on a Friday night and just never shows up on Monday or just quits on the spot then the company owner keeps the $1000 to cover the trouble or cost of re-dispatching someone else to cover that load.
As a company owner that seems fair to me...and as a driver, yes it sucks to have $250 a week taken out at first for 4 weeks but if your honest and up front about leaving the company then you get it back. Shouldnt be a big deal. In relation to the OP, this deal is clearly stated before taking the job.RedForeman Thanks this. -
But i do agree it blows for the new guy; i definetly wouldnt want someone not paying me for what i do/di;but it is what it is i suppose..hnm
