I got it after I read the post again, sorry.

It could be a simple audio IC went bad. Not sure if that's the case or what they'd charge if it were the case, to fix. You didn't bend/bust off any of the knobs/pots when you dropped it did you?

What's the rise time on that scope?
Even though the bandwidth is technically sufficient for what you are using it for, the rise time is actually crippled by the bandwidth.Last edited: Mar 23, 2017

Nope, the chrome faceplate just came detached from one of the ends. It looks like its just held on by 2 small screws and the fall just ripped it loose. Just tried it again and still incoming signal. I'll just get a new one off ebay. Saw the same one for $92 shipped when Loves wants $120+.

rabbi, it works for me. I have another one that I also use, a textronix mdo3000, the older one seems to be in line with the specs based on the newer one comparison with the calibrating equipment I have.
Do you have a scope? -
I haven't used one since I was in the Navy but I find it amusing when people think they know how to use it and when the equipment goes from their bench to a tuned bench what they thought was perfect always ends up looking less than stellar when exposed on a bench capable of seeing what their bench
(Or their eyes) were incapable of seeing.prime example is this guy he thought he had it perfect until it was exposed on a tuned bench. You can actually see the intermodulation distortion highlighted in the waveform. Maybe it's not the bench that's the problem maybe it's the technician that doesn't understand how to see what he's looking at.
Being able to see a problem is only half of the equation. I wouldn't have a clue how to solve the problem.Last edited: Mar 23, 2017

What the hell is a tuned bench?
rabbiporkchop Thanks this. -
A bench assembled in such a way as
to render inductance a moot point and maintains 50 ohms at all points throughout the bench. Remember phase shift Alters what you see and if what you see isn't accurate then your adjustments won't be either. Eliminating phase shift eliminates all error from your bench, but only at a single frequency.
From page 17 of the bird 43 manual:

Did you notice the manual did not give a length at 27 mhz. It starts at 100 mhz.
