I think US Xpress has a slip seat deal for teams where you drive for a month, then take off a month.

while I don't work seasonally, so far I have had something like 14 weeks at home this year. I have kids and a wife I hate being away from, I basically figured out that being a good father and husband, and home so I can be actively involved in their lives, is more important than making 6 figures a year.
anyway, the point being, yes you can make good money and still have quality time off.

    tirednaz and JPenn Thank this.

If you can afford it then yes. i live in the snow belt and there are a few guys leased to mercer and landstar who park thier big trucks in the winter. they plow snow with their pickups. you just have to pay for your insurance, plates and permits and they wont bust your balls

Lots of retired hands here in Florida do it. Run during the winter / spring produce season, then slow way down during the summer months, start back in the fall. Now you can't do it with big payments and huge household bills, but it can be profitable.

I do this now driver, however, I don't do it in America. I mean I live here but I'm originally from an island, and over there it's 90:1USD (US DOLLAR) meaning every $1,000 I make here, it exchanges to $9,000 there. I live like a KING when I'm home. When I'm here, I drive and pay bills like everyone else. I run here for about 8 or 9 months, then I go there for the rest of the year. It can be done and is being done. Go for it but have your expenses managed and worked out. Don't listen to negativity, most of these guys have already F'd up in life so they have all this negative crap to give you(Flatbed)lol, just be smart and stay within your means and make a budget for yourself. You can do it. When I started, I drove for 2 companies, KLLM & KNIGHT TRANSPORTATION for 2 years, by my 3rd year I had my own truck, by my 4th year, I had my own rights, and I've kept on truckin' ever since...DON'T LISTEN TO THE NEGATIVITY, DON'T BELIEVE THE HYPE! #TRUTH Keep in mind though I own both of my trucks I don't lease...as long as you have a payment, you can't really take too much time off unless you have those months paid in advance. #TRUTH KEEP ON TRUCKIN'
