Is this feasible, and resonable?

What time is it? 11:34 and I have made it to page 35!
Two differences between Pharm and I.
1. He had virtually NO over the road experience and learned how to drive his truck the weekend before his first load. I have no idea how he passed his skills test that way? My plan is to at least have 6 weeks seat time BEFORE I buy a truck.
2. He required financing for his rig, which I do not.
Last minute addition:
3. He is a lot more business savvy than I am. Ahem.... But I counter that with a very good mechanical apptitude. (And a shop full of tools!)
I noticed he stopped posting 12-27-09. It's like reading a novel and I won't allow myself to jump ahead. But the suspense is killing me!!!Last edited: Dec 11, 2010

While you're reading that thread, you'll come to the part where the thread gets locked down for a pissing match. It took me a while to find it, but here is the companion thread (and just like a Christmas present--don't open it early):

Now I'm just waiting for another thread like this to open up...
"Hi guys, I'm a former nuclear physicist who also spent twelve years at the Mayo Clinic working as a cardiac surgeon. I'm thinking about buying my own truck and becoming an O/O. What do you guys think?"Last edited: Dec 11, 2010

Experience, experience and more experience.Even after attending a driving school, most companies will put you out with a trainer for 4 to 8 weeks.Even if you own your truck you gotta have verifiable experience.

You the problem with people like you guys that think you know everything?
You are ALWAYS getting the the way with people like ME that do!
LOL
Sorry guys the Physicist made me say it! -
Rambler is 1000% correct! About this time last year, I thought about doing the same thing as the OP. After thinking about it, and talking with a couple of friends who were formerly O/O I concluded that it would be a big mistake to jump into the trucking industry as an O/O.
My advice to the OP is to enroll in a good truck driving school, and go from there.NYROADIE Thanks this. -
Thanks folks for valuable wisdom. At this stage I am going to ride with a buddy of mine for a bit just to see if this is something I want to consider.
