You'll find that alot in this industry.Do what I do,don't talk to them till u get good and ready because you're too busy. That was cold of Swift to clean your trk out.Knowing them they'll charge you for someone doing that. They didnt tell you your trk is cleaned out and won't tell you if there is a charge, you'll just see it on your next check.

I hope all of your belongings are there...

Make a list, before you get there to claim them.

It's been my experience that large companys have management that have no real understanding of the blunt end of trucking. They all have various degrees geared towards things like factory manufacturing or retail, etc. where business is more "top down" and centers around the product.

Trucking is a Service Industry, where the "product" is primarily the trucks, drivers and ontime deliveries/pickups. Office, etc is actually a "supprt mechanism" to the "product".

Most "management" cannot handle that model and tend to over compensate by becoming very insular and remote.

That's why I refer to them as "Office Monkeys".:biggrin_2559:

More companies need to spend time teaching employees how to more effectively communicate. I have thought for some time that dispatchers should not be hired until they have at least a couple of years behind the wheel. It gives them a much better perspective on how the real world works. It also puts them in a position where they can be empathetic with the needs and motivations of their assigned drivers. Drivers could also use some honing of their communication skills. Dispatch and drivers should not operate in an advisarial way but as a team. Both have their place. When the lines of communication are open and both utilize them, the relationship and company works much better. Both are critical to the successful operation of the trucking company.

Doesn't always work. I have an ex-driver dispatcher now that will be the first one to screw you. Dispatchers are affected by the office monkeys above and around them. They become good little soldiers because they are the bottom of the pecking order and the only chance to move up is to please the leaders of the pack. Very cut throat in the office man.:biggrin_25513:

I was always open with my DM, when I could actually get him on the phone. The problem is they are always saying one thing and doing another. They tell you what you want to hear to get you off the phone but don't follow through. Hopefully with a driver run driver founded company they will have better dispatchers.
