Is this normal for a first drive?

if you get too messed up on your down shifting shift into neutral and use the breaks, you cant do that on the test, but your in school to learn just don't get too messed up on the down shifting and end up rear ending someone. remember to count your gears up and down so you always know what gear your in and what gear your go to next. when you get to your splitter if you know your next gear will be up or down go ahead and flip to the range you will need to be in for your next gear.

 

Our DMV takes you through downtown, I had to go through at rush hour, talk about nerve racking. but you'll be fine just go slow and take your time dont let the tail gaters rush you.

 

this is why i scheduled my appointment for 1pm when i took my road test it was about 2ish by the time i started the road test very little traffic.

 

We did more yard and highway driving at my school. We'd downshift All the way as we came down the offramp, hit a stop sign, then upshift up the onramp. And repeat at the next one. Not much traffic on the roads we were on, but enough that you had to be aware. Moved on to city driving after that..

 

this is why i find it funny that local driving experience isn't held to a higher standard that otr experience. otr you get it in the big hole and sit there for hours. where local you are constantly stopping starting dealing with traffic and city streets imo takes more skill than otr.

that is why i think the freeway isn't so bad as a first drive as a confidence booster/first day of driving exp.

 

All I have to say is thank God we did do interstate driving first. That was sooo nerve racking. Going straight was fine but boy do I suck down shifting. We're pretty much driving from now on so I'm gonna get some good practice though.
