That was my thinking as to the req information needed for pre- hire, thx for confriming that .

I am currently looking at some local small companies, the issue i am having is most run smaller than what i would call regional :biggrin_2559: I mean i really like being on the road, to me its definitely work but its not a job because i enjoy it so much.

I have been reading & searching the forum & i must say i would agree that the bigger carries would be an adjustment, by most accounts on here. I do adjust well to adversity most the time though :biggrin_25512: lol.
My fear with these local companies is that i get stuck getting home every night or every weekend! I perfer to stay out 3 to 5 weeks when possible, as said before i have no reason,IMO, to NOT drive every legal mile i can.
That being said my concern is always safety & i understand, from business stand point, the strictness of the companies due to regs & insurance.
I kinda think classic & my boss were right that they were fishing for more than past employment info. Arthur(bossman) has been a O/O for 30 years & has employed several drivers thru out that time as drivers either teamed up with him or driving a truck he leased for them. He has been thru the whole worker verification thing with other drivers before.

Funny side note I jumped thru hella hoops before i could actually drive for him back in 08, had to get unemployment affidavits & past work history from SS dept to satisfy his insurance reqs. never thought I would be worrying about that junk again. Though you have eased my fears a little :biggrin_25525:

with 3 years of driving experience wolfy , i would say you are in the drivers seat...

for tax purposes as a business owner your boss maintains records for previous years under generally accepted accounting principals and also has his insurance info on you - i would think that should be suffice for an employment verification . just my 2 cents.

best of luck driver, sounds like you should have no problems..

Well I will be leaving with Arthur on Friday for a nice week of droop n hooks throughout the southeast.....a few we have to unload but its light insulation rolls, no biggie.

The interesting part is the way the boss has per-planed the routes & told me he was going to be logging some Non-driving hours this week to re-hone any lack of shifting skills that may have occurred due to driving an auto-shift. :biggrin_25521:

He laughed hard when i was discussing my fear about both a new company & not have had a ton of practice since after my first year behind a manual. So to ease my fears a little he has basically became an instructor again. I only really dread is the mountains in missing a gear, but in my 1st year i went down I-70 few times wit few issues other than white knuckles & a slight rise in heart rate lol (my first time). Art says he just thinks i am over thinking things to much again :biggrin_25523: "always seems you don't let your brain get out of the way @ first so you can act, stop thinking so much" .

So either way i will be getting back my timming next few weeks :biggrin_25511: Anyone from ga kno any local outfits that run OTR (not regional!)

    bingo!!

we recently sold a business and 50% of those who were interested wanted detail acct info, ph # pay outs etc without making any real interest known for purchasing.
some of our customers were contacted about us leaving before we had begun to tell customers by the "interested" parties. They were offered equal services at same rate etc.
small businesses are ruthless in how they acquire their new accounts. Not all but many will do these type things.

if he has a tax id that shows him as a business they are only allowed to ask certain questions. he is considered an honest entity because he is a business.

and yes people do lie for friends it happens, but hey companies lie to. just a matter of both parties finding a reasonable medium thye can live with.

:biggrin_2554: Road construction, one 4 wheeler wreck that jammed the road for a while, DID NOT MISS MY OL' AUTO THEN! :biggrin_25523: Before we really got going good he had me going thru the gears up shifting & downshifting on the almost deserted road he lives on. After a bout 100 miles....I am back to floating most the time. Funny, i thought being in an auto for two years would have me a lot more rusty @ driving the manual.
Oh well after few drop n hooks on way down, we in St. Lucie, FL @ the flyin j i fixxin grab a shower then crash for the night. Should end my day tomorrow in go ol Northern Alabamay :biggrin_2555: Then we should be headed out to texas n back with a few to unload but mostly drop in hooks on way out, then i kno a load from texas straight to Atl, SEAT TIME :biggrin_25525: Art said he's gonna throw me a few curve balls tomorrow & then we prob just go back to teaming rest of trip. Gonna be a full week maybe lil longer if the brokers can get few more loads towards end of next week. Art is showing more n more of the owner op side of things here lately, good learning from a successful o/o with as many years experience as art has. I gonna hate to leave :(

    ANYWAYS NIGHT STAY SAFE DRIVER
