I pulled that stunt once when I was with NFI. Customer had me wait all night for a load. Dispatch kept telling me to wait. Fine. 6am I see another daycab rolling in. I tell him the next load is mine. He says dispatch told me to head back. Well I told him I'm taking the next load because my ten was up. How do they know I didn't get a hotel. Stupid on my part but sometimes I go overboard.
My current job with JB has me in a daycab but not home every night. They reimburse me for the hotel and pay extra for me to stay out.
Is this normal?

The answer to the question of this thread is...... Absolutely nothing, nothing about this whole entire situation...is "normal"

If he is sick with lung issues he has to be off the road. No ifs buts or maybes.
Sleeping in a day cab is verboten. It's motel time or home time. If there is a accident and no motel receipts for the last rest period guess what, he's liable for it.
As far as the rest of it that's trucking. Forget the raise. nothing is worth anything verbally. But he sure picked a hell of a run to get that money. He probably can make that much for far less conflicts in a sleeper truck but home time will go by the wayside. And with 7 to take care of plus SPouse it's not too long before the marriage gets busted up from either too little money or something else. Or when his health really fails because he is not properly taking care of the illness now. It would potentially bounce back and really put him into the hospital a few weeks. Then you will see what it will take in billing deductibles to pay before the insurance pay anything.
I hate to be difficult but trucking and being sick are two mutually impossible situations, it will be destructive if not taken care of with adequate rest and proper medicines to eliminate the problem. -
Maybe you should get your CDL and you guys could team up. Much better prospects that way. And no more kids. They're expensive.
Aamcotrans and x1Heavy Thank this. -
hubby has something on the side..a girlfriend or a racetrack or a slot machine..he's withholding his pay and lying to her about it...

I dont have a dog in this fight. But the op sounds honest to me AND her question was never answered.
Doing the math her numbers come out.
She said gross about $12-1300 a week.
Split that down the middle $1250 gross a week
$250 taxes (being nice) probably more
$400 insurance
$150 child support
$100 retirement
Leaves him taking home $350 a week. Child support, and insuraning so many people is what kills him. -
