Im going to have to agree with you. In fact, not only do I believe it, but I can prove it.

Seems like your customers don’t seem to care but that’s not necessarily to cause industry wide.

If you’ve stayed in a Holiday inn Express or read an EX-ONE post recently, it’s pretty much the same as doing it.

Just like a bunch of truck drivers...can't agree on anything. LoL
I haven't hauled many coils, but the ones I have were mostly suicide. It seems more places have big forklifts than have gantry hooks. Eye-to-the-sky is rare and takes the longest to offload even if they are easier to secure and tarp. As for DOT mandating a strap on coils now... I've always run straps through my (suicide) coils. I saw nothing wrong with a bit more downforce holding that sucker in the cradle.

    cke and adayrider Thank this.

I'm not fighting with anybody, you the comment "Most guys I know that haul coils don’t have a choice". I just said that's not the case. And when given the choice suicide is best on the trailer. And if you are going somewhere new and they don't specify you better go suicide cause they can always unload it.
Maybe you guys took it wrong?

    cke Thanks this.

Like I said I’m reporting what I’m told, most of the guys I’ve talked to say they load them based on customer request not driver preference.

    I'm good with that.
I'm just reporting what I experience.
