Hauled coils daily back in the 80’s. You are correct, makes it a lot easier on you and the customer if they are loaded the way the customer prefers, or which way is easier for customer to unload. Most coils I haul today are loaded and unloaded with a fork truck, so no problems. I do pickup occasionally and get loaded with a crane, knowing there is no crane on the other end they better be suicide. ;)

Dumb but I'm assuming the cotter pin will go through a chain link and the angled iron sits over the lever?

Meh. Maybe if I ever run into them in Iowa80 I'll grab a few with some spare change in my pocket.

These are my favorite if I have to use a snap binder. The threads give you adjustment so you can get a half link tighter if needed. Built in spring latch to keep them closed. No parts to worry about losing.

I use a 2ft pipe to release them though because the latches have to be held open while you pull on the handle and I don't want it to snap and break a finger.

Neat... I've never seen those. The threads are only on the bottom?

Chain link for the pin, or sometimes thru the swivel link on the binder if I got room. That can provide good leverage if you get a good angle on it n drop the pin in tight.

    To each their own.

Yes only threads on one end. Other end is a standard swivel.
They are Peerless ProLok66 binders. Looks to be about $40-50 online. Pretty sure that's about what my local trailer dealer charges as well.

Looks like he has a tiedown on each corner. At least he's trying. That look's alot better than the ones who throw a 2 inch strap across the boom & hit the road.

You mean like this guy I saw cruising at 70mph in Houston? 1 2" strap on the loader arms. 1 2" strap on the pivot for the backhoe.

Also, the ### end of that Chevy was bouncing off the bump stops going down the road.
