I thought about filing myself, but I instead used interstateauthority.com. Not bad pricing for everything, and you call the same person. I guess now that I've been through it, I would just do it myself.
Something doesnt sound right about this service. How can they change only $425 when each authority you apply for costs $300 at the FMCSA? They say they are getting you both "Common" and "Contract" carrier authority and according to item 4 at https://www.fmcsa.dot.gov/about/other/faq/faqs.aspx#question4 it should be $600 for obtaining both authorities.
I cant believe that anyone would pay thousands for what they advertise. Read it carefully, it does not include insurance (the only thing I can think of that would cost thousands), just a quote for insurance that anyone can call around for themselves at no charge. There is nothing they are offering that you cannot do yourself at http://www.fmcsa.dot.gov/registration-licensing/online-registration/onlineregdescription.htm and http://www.fmcsa.dot.gov/documents/Form-BOC-3-508.pdf for S300 for one authority. Most of what is in the add is redundant. I was just questioning the part of the add for getting both common and contract authority for the price they advertise as each authority you get costs $300. I think that they mean one or the other authority but worded to try to fool some people. I do not trust organizations that advertise deceitfully. If they stretch the truth in one area they probably are in other areas as well. Seems to me that they are making $125 for doing what anyone can do for themselves, not such a great deal.
Typically, yes. They want the new-entrant to have some loads on his books which allows them to audit the records handling, compliance, etc. of actual operations. Check with OOIDA for a business webinar video they produced which is to prepare the new-entrant for the audit. It will cover everything you need to do in order to not only pass, but to do it with or near a perfect score.
It's either / or, not both. If I recall, the feds don't really even differentiate the two anymore. I remember reading that somewhere, but I don't recall where.
nah, you can get both common and contract authority for $300, I did. This company makes $125 and probably recieves money from insurance and factoring companies for giving them your info and/or a kickback if you sign up with one of them would be my guess.
Not at all...I am gaining as much knowledge as i can about going on my own.And being my own person..Kinda like L/S used to be...LMAO
