I didnt want to stir up trouble as a trainee and potentially lose my job. Thats why i went along with things before. Now that i know its my ### on the line im not bending for anyone.
I have since gotten a new trainer who runs legal and seems to be a good dude. Unfortunately after only 2 days with him we will be split up. He has a home emergency and i will have to go to a terminal for another assignment.
I dont want to leave werner just yet. They may not be the best company but im only here for experience right now until i can find something good. I feel leaving this early wont look good on my resume. They do have all new eauipment which will be nice to get my foot in the door and get used to trucking.
I do appreciate all the advice from more experienced driversx1Heavy Thanks this. -
What i mean when i say cheating is either using my hours to drive or having me go off duty before the truck is done moving. For example my second trainer wanted me to go off duty as soon as we stopped on the off ramp to turn.

That's not cheating, that's just prudent.

This is pretty much the exact reason why i want to start out with Roehl because they only have 14 days out on the road with a trainer and sometimes less like 9-10 days from what i've read.

The more time you spend with a trainer the better you benefit from the knowledge offered. I know you want your own truck and freedom but Trainers who are not distracted by money and is there to teach you you can stick around a while and learn. I might have all the years and if I went with trainer I would put my money where my words are too.1278PA Thanks this.

I hear you and agree but personally I learn much better just by doing things myself. Teach me the basics and i have the natural ability to fine tune the skills and learn quickly.

Everyone learns and comprehends at different rates and by different methods. Some people can watch once and have it down. Others have to physically do a task repeatedly to "understand" the task. Some have to let the information percolate through their gray matter for a while before it "clicks".
That is why it is best to figure out how you learn and, to the extent possible, get yourself in environments that work for you.
In the real world, you usually just have to accept that you are going to be fed a crap sandwich of one-size-fits-nobody training that you have to make the best of.
If you can accept that, then you won't waste your energy resisting and focusing on the idiocy. You can focus on getting something out of the mandatory training scheme.
