we run all 48 states. freight in and around Dallas was horrendous last time I was there, sat for 5 days waiting for a load. you'll probably end up loading in AR, NM, or OK to take a load through the house for the weekend. living in that area you might want to stay out 2-3 weeks at a time and ask for longer loads.
I ran out west (West of the Mississippi) probably almost half the time I was with TMC. I asked for west coast loads because I like driving out west (higher speed limits, no tolls, amazing scenery). Spent a lot of time rolling into and through TX and OK. If you want freight out west SMX might be a better option but the six months I spent with TMC up until Aug I had plenty of freight out that way. I literally hit every state west of the Mississippi, from ND to CA to TX to WA.
Thanks for the info guys. I don't really have a need to run in the west per se. My folks do live in Southern California, so a visit now and then on home time would be nice, but I wouldn't count on that with any carrier. My main concern is getting quality and frequent hometime in DFW. I just wanted to make sure that living and working out of DFW would not limit my hometime because it's just barely within the hiring limits of TMC. I would like to take my pup along, but it's not a requirement either.
My DH worked for TMC and we live in the Azle area just outside DFW. He was home every weekend unless he needed to get to Des Moines for any mechanical work that Joplin couldn't do.
BoobDaddy, I think tmc has a yard in Phoenix, They load sheetrock out of Vegas a lot. And PVC pipe somewhere.
When I was with TMC we pulled a good bit of steel pipe out of Allied Tube in Phoenix but we didn't have a yard there.
We shall see over the next 3 weeks. Arrow going under may increase there freight enough to stay up and get tags paid. Though TMC is showing some of the same signs that arrow did. Good luck to all.
Already got my tags. Checks haven't bounced. Still pulling loads. What are the signs you are talking about? Why pay for the IFTA tags if you are closing the doors?
The IFTA sticker doesn't cost anything. It's the license plate tags that are expensive. But as long as your checks aren't bouncing, I'm guessing your OK?
