4200.00 doesn't say anything without a few details. Things such as miles, what kinda trouble it is from start to stop.
How long does it take them to pay, and will you be replaced on a whim if a cheaper offer is made?

If you make 1 cent over ALL costs it was technically profitable. It may not have been the profit you were hoping for but there was in fact a profit.

I grew up in a disco and in a tavern later. We sold the disco in the 70's, the howard Johnsons before that when 95 got popular and US 40 dried up, and managed to sell the Tavern after many years as the customer base died off. My grandparent was a waitress there when she was 19 and lived to I think 87, not certain. But we were still up and running despite some lean years.
In about 62' Maryland changed the law to allow all races to eat in a public establishment. Before that it was segregated. The '68 riots in Baltimore under Military invasion did not help the ruffled feathers at that time. We kids were relocated out of the city for most of that year to escape the occupation and violence. Which protected us from getting scarred.
When the people do not have money to eat and drink as normal things get really tough for us. I recall the early 80's as a really difficult time. I last visited to have dinner with wife with the new owners having settled in back I think in '98 and we noticed that many people have passed on for that time of day from the local neighborhood.
Profitable? I guess so. It's hard to say when the gas bill is 3000 to 4000 dollars a month. We had a class B license meaning 49% of all sales has to be food. The rest alcohol. So that kitchen was cooking all day ready to fix something from 10 AM every morning 7 days a week.
