I take the Melatonin and Magnesium at the same time.Another Canadian driver, Sirscrapntruckalot and Puppage Thank this. -
There are concerns that using Melatonin frequently has health issues. Outside North America a prescription is required for Melatonin.
Myself I have a prescription for Immovane 7.5…one of the pitfalls of decades on night line haul…i dont sleep without meds.Another Canadian driver and Sirscrapntruckalot Thank this. -
Melatonin is also a natural anti-inflammatory.

My preferred one is via meditation.
I lower my breathing rhythm, heart beating and blood pressure.
Posturing and with those beautiful flute tunes you recommended.
Thank you again, Good Sir.Boondock, VIDEODROME and Sirscrapntruckalot Thank this. -

What did work oddly enough is similar to what @Another Canadian driver mentioned. I try to quiet my brain, and just relax as much as possible. I also find music helps but it has to be instrumental. So I've learned to like jazz and other types of music with just instruments. Lots of it out there. Personally jazz blues works the best for myself. Your mileage may vary.
The meditation/relax thing works. Maybe someone else can explain it better, I know I can't.
All I know I I'll never get a prescription sleep aid. Known to many folks and herd to many bad stories of the side effects of such.
So far what I do works for me, but I can only speak for myself.
Good luck to those with sleeping issues, it sucks.

I dunno, I've tried the Melatonin thing, and my results were less than desirable. I'd take one and be out like a light 45 minutes later, but would wake up 3 hours later, unable to fall back asleep, and have a migraine for the next 5-6 hours.
I was under a lot of stress at the time, and couldn't sleep, so I thought that was the answer. Turns out, the best thing I ever did was to not stress over things. Interestingly, it was a book I read that got me to this point. I read it and realized I really am stressing over stuff that don't matter.
I sleep really well now, even though I only sleep about 4 hours at a time. But I feel great. I take no pills of any kind, and eat relatively healthy.Sirscrapntruckalot and Another Canadian driver Thank this. -
Good for you, Sir.
