When I began with WSXI, it really wasn't that bad. I ran with the east coast division for seven months. Had a demanding, but competent dispatcher. Always calling me the minute my 10 was up with a new load from wherever I had offloaded.

I was kept so busy, I went four days without a shower...during summer! I was so dang nasty. My first load was bobtail from the yard in Nashville all the way to pick up a trailer at a lumber mill in Crossett, Arkansas. I had six months experience and my first load is bobtailing 430 miles.

Then I gave up tractor 1507 to transfer to the west coast division to be home. They didn't begin abusing me until 2015.
By October I had enough and quit.

The office staff in Fontana were pricks. I lucked out and was assigned a dispatcher who had a soul. He would allow his drivers to be paid for the miles we drove home.

Then, one day, the friggin vice president of the company flies in and heads began to roll. My dispatcher was fired. A CSR was fired. He even canned the shop manager. Of course the shop still sucked because the mechanics were abused as much as the drivers, if not even more so.

Those weren't the days.

 

Was Louie the shop manager in Tennessee?

 

I don't recall. During my stint with the east coast division, they moved the shop manager from Emporia, Virginia to Nashville. Can't remember his name. Heckuva guy. Competent and productive. I remember him saying it was a "lateral move" and not a promotion.

He really didn't want to move from Virginia to Nashville. Unfortunately, he didn't stay long, and the shop ran more efficiently only briefly after his departure. Think he took a job at a dealership. Emporia still had the more efficient shop long after he left compared to the maelstrom that was the Nashville shop.

 

Emporia was basically a dirt lot with the garage built as an afterthought-then again the same could be said for the old terminals in Nazareth,Pennsylvania (my home terminal at the time-it was relocated to Bethlehem). Now,if you really wanted years taken of your lifespan you were sent to the Birmingham,Alabama terminal. First time I went there was on a Saturday night around 10 pm to look for an empty trailer. Barely 10 seconds out of the truck someone decided to shoot someone or something with a shotgun across the street from the terminal!!

Nice terminal in Nashville until the tornado hit.
Wasn't there a killing at that terminal, something to do with some guy wearing womens clothes?

 

I remember that alleged terminal in Nazareth. They shared a lot with Venezia. Most run down drivers lounge I ever did saw. Before leaving, some numbnuts damaged my tractor pulling out because he was too close and the flatbed trailer got me with the outswing.

The guy asked me to lie and say I was hit at a truck stop.

Ha ha! No.

The safety team flooded out and created a spectacle.

Went to the Birmingham terminal twice. Tarps were repaired there.

Met one of the ugliest men I have ever seen there. He had a face like J. Wellington Wimpy and enough hairs on his nose to qualify as a low growing shrub.

 

Yup. They found his body in the boneyard. The guy who killed him went and picked up a load afterwards..
He was arrested in New York and extradited back to Tennessee on murder charges!
That happened a couple of years before the tornado hit the headquarters.
That was some straight up thug s*** right there!!

 

Is there a reason you mentioned race like 6 times in this post , literally if it doesn’t matter why mention it that’s insane , and here only 13 percent of pop , most of the time there the ones in the minority NOT you . Get over yourself guy
