1500 after all expenses he says... to clarify he wants 30 percent of everything.. driver would receive 70 percent of load and 70 percent fuel surcharge 70 percent detention and 70 percent etc... he says the truck will only make about 4000 or 5000 revenue

 

That sounds a lot better.

However, IMHO, whoever pays for the fuel should get 100% of the fuel surcharge. Fuel surcharge does not pay for all the fuel you use, unless you average more than 10 MPG loaded and drive almost exclusively interstate miles.

Yeah that's pretty bad.

When he says 1500 after all expenses, he probably means that's a good week... And that's working 6 days a week.

When he says minus all expenses, most likely he means paying them to use the truck and whatever fees you pay them and hopefully fuel.

Even so, and I'm not exactly sure how lease works with taxes, but if you put 30% away for tax every week even though you may not pay that, if you put 30% away that leaves you with $1,050.

If you put away $300 a week for a repair fund, that leaves you with $750... For 6 days work. Not including:

Who pays for the tags, ifta, 2290, permits, annual inspections, insurance, accountant, eld ?

And what happens if the truck needs a head and a head gasket a turbo a clutch fan a radiator an alternator an air compressor new belts and hoses new clutch and flywheel a thermostat tires brakes...

What happens if you pay all that and then they starve you out and you give them the truck back because you can't make the payments?

Am I understanding this correctly that you will have paid them for the privilege of spending a fortune to fix their truck for them, only to have to give it back to them after you worked like a dog 6 days a week and ended up spending and losing massive amounts of money?

So then they can turn around and find someone else to do the same thing to?

I knew I shoulda waited. But if I had waited, I would've gone from "Yay I can afford a truck!" to "Where'd all my money go?"

The carrier I was with as a company driver is being destroyed, and if I had stayed they would've dragged me down with them.
