Seriously. OP I feel sorry for you.Your problem is what I dread too when I haul those food loads. I hope they won't file a claim. I am thinking about getting a seal protector myself.
With Uber the biggest problem is their chain of command. Everything is seamless until you hit a snag. When there is a problem, it is always a pain in the ### to get to someone with authority to make a decision. It takes a little too long. I would not dispose of it on my own until reasonable time (2 weeks - maybe) - depending on what a temporary storage warehouse charges.

Find a 3PL warehouse. Cost around $10 per pallet per month or something like that. Also invest in a lock. I guess you don’t have a lock so somebody broke the seal and peek inside the load.

I was going to make that suggestion, the cost of the bolt seal is a lot less than the cost of the losses from this crap.

The cost by the way is around 75¢ each when you buy them in bulk - expect to spend $200.

Salt is very cheap, might be better to buy the load, dispose any way you want, and get back to work.

It is interesting that values of some commodities are worth less than the very rate for which they are hauled. For instance, I always wondered about the logic of hauling bottled water from California to Indiana.

Next time keep extra seals handy and some white-out (kidding). The company I used to drive for had covers that locked over the seal to protect the cargo. I never had an issue with a seal usually because I kept moving and usually shutdown at the receiver.

How about one load I did for Swift. A latex glove mfg that I pulled a dry van full of rejects and broken packaging to a landfill in middle of nowhere OH.

As for the shipping of something like water.. Well the bottling is likely much cheaper than having a plant in Indiana, so even if shipping is 2x the cost of the product, it's still cheaper to bottle there.
