QC problems usually require a :
1) Competent FM / clerk whom is computer literate in Windows
And / or
2) a trip to a service center
Depends on what's going on etc. Tell hubby to be careful and be sure paper matches exactly. If QC has power then it's tracking and the data is somewhere. He might not be able to see it but it's either stored in the unit, on the server in San Diego or on the FM's computer.
Point: I've seen a paper vs a qc argument and the qc won.
Issues...?!

the secret they arent telling you is...wait til you are FAR AWAY from a terminal to bring up repair issues, especially if you have knowledge of a specific terminal being bad at repairing in a timely manner. then they will have to route you to a t/a or dealer, both of which will perform the work better and quicker.

I appreciate all the advice. What was happening specifically is that he would certify the logs and then overnight sometime they would delete and switch to 24 hours off duty. When he first started having trouble with it he told them and he started keeping paper logs. He is very detail oriented and is all about safety. He follows the rules so I'm not worried about him getting in trouble. I just wasn't sure if this was a normal thing. Btw he didn't just go to the terminal just to get that fixed his parking break has been slipping so he needed to get that looked at. I love getting on this site because I can almost always get a quick answer and support!

Happy New Year to you and your man and best wishes for an excellent 2013 full of miles and running for him!

An additional FYI about QCs, there are only about 24 repair centers across the US. Hubby's messed up a couple of years ago (before he was on e-logs) and it took 6 weeks before he was able to get into an area where he could get it fixed.

Also did you make sure safety was called about the issue. Husbands had been down completely before with no screen and it makes life a lot harder when you have to call and get all info by phone. He was on paper logs then luckily.
The last time on this company that QC was down with the elogs he did paper logs and they had to be sent in trip pak: log department had a hard time for whatever reason getting the elogs and paper logs to marry up they said.
He most likely was sitting because they didn't have a load for him to take also. -
I was expecting the trucking industry to be a whole lot worse where I would break down at least once every week and have to sit and wait for days all of the time... with that mindset I was surprised that I could go months without any delays or problems. Yes, I travel all over the US and Canada and always manage to avoid traffic and without any breakdowns that cause me to sit. I had a few problems that could be fixed later and I did have a flat trailer tire but I was still in the sleeper and had a lot of time until my appointment. When passing my terminal when I was ready to shutdown I would have mechanics do maintenance checks on my truck while I slept to keep things tip top.

using paper logs instead of being babysitted by a qualcom IS A GOOD THANG !

Remember, anything made by man can be broke by man.
Les, I like your thinking...
Me I love not being on elogs...
Oh wait I'm home on holiday.... -
Husband has a 2012 Prostar International in August he was brokedown in Sparks, NV, 8/15 to 8/22when out of shop. P/u load went Stockton, CA dlvd, p/u new load 8/22, broke down again then so it is at Turlock dealer from then till fixed again 9/4. He stayed in truck maybe 3 days total before they got it into the shop, the rest was in a motel .
He made it to within 45 miles of dlv 12/11, brokedown again. In motel till finished 12/18.
Since he is a lease operator this is all out of our pockets for the motel expenses and no money made during downtime.
He says the check engine light is on once again. He also was in shop in Jerome, ID for about 2 days back in Feb for problems, they did work on it and got the truck out and let them stay in it when it wasn't being worked on. Luckily it was all on warranty work, but it seems to be that some of the dealers appeared to let trucksahead that were paying customers vs warranty work.
