No. Those are the ones that had updated everything.
One issue was carbon packing. The extra piston ring mitigated that.
Fuel pump with ceramic plungers. This was a huge issue for a lot of people. $300 fix if you did it before it grenaded.
Lots had bad camshafts.
Other than that aftertreatment fine tuning.
Knock on wood.
Dunno if they came up with a better gear housing design or gasket. If you ever see those gaskets, you'll go "Really????"
That's a billion dollars worth of engineering????? -
Not necessarily a fanboy of Cummins, but I do respect that they put diesels on the map in the US by making them work here. They also ran 4 diesel Indy cars over the years. Without them we'd likely be driving gasoline trucks.
The problem today is too much reliance on CAD and not enough actual physical experience. And then there's that little Chinese diesel they rebranded that isn't doing so well when it comes to actual work.Brettj3876 Thanks this. -
If you take care of it, it'll take care of you.

I wouldn't overhaul it dave until the oil consumption gets high , mine was guzzling a gallon every 1000 when I had it overhauled and still ran good .Dave_in_AZ, AModelCat and BoostedTeg Thank this.
