A friend of mine has a 2011 ISX serial # 79441714. It was inframed by a truck dealership 100,000 miles ago.
Now the block is cracked on the left side a little behind the air compressor and about 3 inched below the head gasket.

    singlescrewshaker and D.Tibbitt Thank this.

Seems like I saw one other crack in that same spot. I doubt the rebuild or workmanship has any effect on the crack in that area.

    Is it leaking? Oil?

    Just sucks

Seen 2 blocks crack in that exact area. No ones fault, just falls under #### that happens. Crack is coming off the main oil gallery. I dont have any side pics but this is the pic with the front structure removed.

Is it possible where a head bolt goes into block? Have seen that on numerous blocks that head bolt holes did not get cleaned out before assembly

Do you suppose it would take a year and 100,000 miles to show up?

A friend of mine has tested thousands of diesel engines at Southwest Research. He says a crack in a block like that is almost always caused by harmonic flexing. In other words. The vibration that goes through the casting during low rpm lugging. Look at the way the casting shifted over at the too of that crack in the pic. That is a tell tale of it. It is from shaking side to side. Not being pressed up or down.
