For all of you ISX mechanics. If you are working on a 2013 1/2, and newer, ISX, with factory brass cylinder liner shims, you will usually find that the counterbores are not fretted at all. Liners go down, because the brass bearings (as Cummins calls them) (ie shims) have smashed. I now have stainless steel shims, that you can install, in place of the brass shims, and get the liners up to .014" protrusion, without doing any machining of the counterbores.

Funny Cummins engineers can't figure this stuff out but a machinist can.

The stainless shims holding up good?

Holding up very good. I am selling these all over the country, for years Every one is extremely happy with the results. Most of my customers will not put a ISX together, without S/S shims. Cummins will have to do something else. I have seen many, many brass shim failures, (One was smashed .010" on one side of the liner. .000" smash on the other side) Those truckers are very upset, with Cummins. One fleet has two 2014s that failed. Has two more to go. When???

Very interesting? Thank you for sharing!!!!!

I have a 2350 apart now with #5 dropped to .003 and a plain as day blown gasket.

Have you sourced the shims from a third party manufacturer? "No detailIs required, just curious" I will most definately will be mic'ing these once apart.

This is #5 my suspect hole and liner was low and measured .005" on the Hot side. All liners measure at minimum spec or below on the hot side. Cold side was around .010"

The shim is cracked on the Hot side. Shim Mic'd .026" at the same spot the liner was low. All other spots mic around .032". There is evidence of fretting on all 6. This one is the worst.
