Do we know what years fuel pumps this happens in? I just had this happen to me and I had a 'good used take out' crate one born in 2015(my old one was born in 2014!) from RR Rebuilds here in FL installed. Had me out for a whole month w/what shb a #### 84 day lead time just for some parts, but cussed AND PRAYED alot & my mechanic here in Orlando got'er done once the #### thing arrived!! I'm back out now but I was told "that problem was fixed starting w/2015 isx15s." I just wanna be sure or just change my pump.... Sooner than later!

You don't have to change the pump. They came with ceramic plungers. Cummins changes them to metal ones. Problem solved.
If you do this before it's a problem, takes a couple hours, costs about $300.

Does anyone know if this issue affected the x15 as well?
I have a 2018 and just want to know if I should be concerned.

It was a $187 fix at Cummins. They took the ceramic plungers out, put metals one in.

Of course you had to take an few hours to take it over there before it failed.

But, no, that problem is ancient history.

There's an X15 thread on here.

i think that issue was most with 2010 to 2012 if not mistaken, old three cilynder fuel pumps were failing

ALL X15 engines have updated parts in the pumps and have not had failures thus far. Performance series engines have a totally different pump design which also have had no issues thus far that I have seen.

2021 X15 565hp 245,000 miles now sits in the Limbo Lot at inland Kenworth Phoenix.
No fuel pumps and they have no idea when they will be available. Wonderful warranty...just say the words " Supply Chain Shortage " and it gets everyone off the hook .
