Yeah, like that happens. I'm guessing you haven't bought (m)any trucks. This will be #6 for me and my first non Detroit series 60.
ISX or Volvo?

You will find a lot more people willing to work on the Volvo rather than an ISX.
Just my personal experience as a driver in a company 660. -
Everyone has their own preference but my choice is KW 660 or Peterbilt 379, 386, 389 only because they are very well built and can last in just about any market in the truck indusrty. I myself have a 2006 386 Pete with a C15 Cat and I love it, non of the extra crap like Def or regen which is about 80% of todays reason the dealers shops are busy. My Cat has 925275 miles on it and still pulling strong without being in the shop as I keep the maintenance up on it and no shade tree under my hood, I get on an average 7.2 mpg between 68- 72 mph.

Go with the ISX! You can unplug the egr valve and you wont have to worry so much about ur dpf clogging.
-
I didn't ask about Paccar products, nor pre DPF. I'm glad you like your ACERT Cat. What's up with the top bunk in a 386? Retarded I tell ya. Aluminum belongs in beer cans not truck cabs. I don't want to step down into my sleeper. Built better, ha. -
I have had both trucks 3 with ISX and 4 with Volvo. I looked over 2011 spreadsheet. Maintence was 11% less on the ISX and fuel mileage was .6 mpg higher with ISX. Pulling vans and reefers around 2300-2500 miles per week.
So just looking at the data from my trucks I would go with ISX.fortycalglock and fireba11 Thank this. -
Nothing against Volvo but I'd go with the ISX - more dealer support there. Also there is an excellent technical thread by Rawze in the garage section on maintaining those particular ISX's keeping the egr system and exhaust after treatment in tip top condition. Why are you getting rid of the WS?
-
I own 2008/ 780 with Volvo D13/13 Eaton manual, got it new , i would go for same truck again; i have 1,230,000 miles, team, on original motor transmission, still pulling great 8-9 mpg. I'm pulling loads for Cummins/Columbus Indiana, i know where are made and don't trust the quality.

There's nothing better then making a illegal u turn and the truck starts beeping at you with the D Button flashing. Oh yeahhhh
lol.. But the new I shifts are a lot and I mean a lot different then the 08s 07s etc
go with a d13 or d16 -
I drive the VNL with the 06 ISX, would love to buy a glider vnl if I could find one. Anyway, I've chosen to have the isx vs d13/16 due to the lack of service stations for the volvo motors. You will have more locations cross-country that can work on the isx than d13/16. Also, shops that work on the cummins motors usually stock the parts that you might need, if they do not have it then they can get it faster than the volvo dealer. It is your business, if you want to go with the d13/16 because of possibility of better mpg - by all means go ahead. But, be prepared to sit for the longer periods of time when you do need service, vs isx. If volvo had the option to have the cat motor, I would have went with the cat. On the other hand, if you can afford the T8 kw, go with that. You'll have better resale, and you'll pay about 2x for it initially : ).
