    I wouldn't drop them any lower than about 3.36s then, especially if you're pulling heavy.

    99 and earlier engine build date you can run paper logs. I'm assuming you're currently on ELDs, if you are you could just as well stay on that and maybe it'll keep certain individuals from asking too many questions about what's under the hood.

    Right now we are running aobrd. But incase like start Dec this year if i keep running abord and i get pulled in for inspection what do i say? Its not a glider

    I'd go to ELD then, you'd hate to get a ticket for whatever it is they'd give you a ticket for and having an ELD might keep them from asking too many questions.

    You aren't going to be the first guy that put an older engine in a newer truck. Best bet is continue use of ELD. It will work fine with the 99 3406E. The less information you give to law enforcement the better. What tire size you have on drives? 3.55 was the common spec of that era.

    I know a guy who did it to avoid ELDs entirely, but he's pulling a cow wagon so he's exempt either way.
