Long as he doesn’t run Cali, he should be ok with a yellow motor, if he does go yellow, he has to have the installer program the ECM the updated engine family. ELD, well that’s a different story. ELD’s are so confusing that I gave up on them. I run local so I’m exempt. I run paper (thank God). Even when I need to 2010 my engine/truck, I will still be exempt from ELD’s for now. But I know on the horizon, that’s eventually gonna change.

To the OP, do your homework and talk to a reputable shop. Also, you have been given same advice several times to check out “Rawze” website. He is the go to guy for any Cummins. For a small donation fee on his site, it’s priceless.

Is your interstate mcbee rebuild still going strong? I'm interested in getting a kit from them for my Cat but can't find anyone that's used their kits.

She's going strong so far, don't have quite 100k on it yet. I know a guy who rebuilds quite a few E models using their kit, seem to hold together good for him.
