Welp, I guess I’m gonna need some help…
Some of y’all been following my career over the years from overseas sandbox, to van, open deck, and Reefer. It’s been enjoyable and really took off when I got into driving hoods and doing produce. I’ve got a customer and worked my tail off to keep them happy, but it’s hard by yourself. Life throws you curve balls and it is impossible to be there 100%. Sooner or later you will be down due to a truck, trailer, or yourself. So instead of giving up on running like a company and just doing 1 spot market load at a time I decided to man up and be one. Just closed on another Reefer. Darn big move these days! I’d like to hear some stories on who made that next jump and their adventures. -And if any O/O wants to work with me, pm me and I can fill in via email.

Nice job man, That is a big purchase and glad you are making a go at this thing to be more than you alone. Hopefully this thing works out and you get to be one of the big guys on here.

So you bought a 2nd reefer and are looking to onboard an owner op? Not another truck and company driver?

    Siinman and Cattleman84 Thank this.

Yes sir. I usually get to my produce area the day before. Meet up with the same guys for a few years now. We have a few beers, wrench on our rigs, have dinner, and talk about family. Brotherhood of a bygone era. All O/O. And yes, I’m the youngest.
I’m just glad to be part of that. There are company drivers that are 2nd to none out there, but it’s not common to find one to care as much as one that has more skin in it. If I can find a couple of guys that want to haul some produce and fit in, I can keep that nostalgia going ( I truly believe the day of the career O/O is numbered ) and keep me in a cozy spot with my customer….would be fantastic.

Well, I could be the broker on it if you wanted. To take on more demand. Or, I could put a truck on it pulling your trailer or mine. I’m however not an owner op. I see your from north of me so could possibly work.

Either way man, happy for you and wish you the best. Whoever it is, trust is number one. I pay owner ops by the mile so that they don’t know my rates and ultimately steal my customers. Keep that in mind friend. Maybe I’m paranoid but people sell each other down the river for not all that much. Better safe then sorry.

Thanks, it’s possible but not easy. I have had many I responded emails, calls that go nowhere, and failed negotiations. I still advise guys going independent to have reserves snd a plan that needs to be dynamic. -Semper Gumbi-
