We are just getting started. In a couple of days maybe a frontal passage with a bit of rain. August is the worst for heat here in Arkansas. 130 some days in the shade. I recall wife and I just waiting until Sept before doing anything outside.

One august the central air did fail. By noon we were at 141 inside the house. the following noon and 12000 dollars later a 16 seer 4 ton central air took 6 hours to bring it back down from then 138 to 68. For giggles we bottomed it at 50 and see if it would do it. By dinner we were there.

The hottest Ive been was when the A/C failed in Spartansburg 76 SC in the night at the truckstop one summer. It was about 95 outside with about maybe 65% humidity at sunset. Frosted windows. Noon came around I woke up in a 150+ cab and spent until 2am sipping 5 pitchers of tea with standing orders to staff to get ambulance if I dropped. I finally started generating liquid by 3am next morning. A/C was fixed, replaced essentially for about a 1000 plus dollars.

The load? Appt and everthing out the window.

Not for nothing, but I’m at a motel 6 near our terminal in Fontana and the temp has been between 100 and 117 that last week. Not as humid here in Southern California though. Anyway the a/c in the room has two settings that seem to work. “Off” and “Arctic deep freeze”. I woke up freeeeeezing and went and got my sleeping bag. I guess I’m whining because later today I’ll be complaining about the heat. Dang, I sound like my mother. :) :)

We have alot of respect for the Sonoran desert and Gila both in East of Lake Havastu and SW of Phoenix. I remember our Century cab being about 82 inside with ac full blast both sleeper and cab and about roughly 160+ according to reefer howling in high range and around 122 outside. The pavement stuck the boots so a butter knife cleaned the soles.

We burnt so much reefer fuel out of that 100 gallon tank so fast at -20. It's awesome how well it did that day.

I had a contractor try to pick a fight with me today. I guess he was hot.

    “You’re my least favorite driver!”

“I don’t want you to like me man, you’re a fake tough guy who gets in peoples faces”

“I’m calling your company on you!!!!!!”

“Ok... tell them I called you an #######”

“I’m gonna wash my tools with your water and get tf out of here!!!!!”

I laughed and sat in my truck waited for him to turn around and floored it. Left him high and dry. Have fun chipping concrete off your bow floats and everything else #######.

I told my boss he’s no longer allowed to buy mud from us. Once people get like that they just tell us to leave even if we got a full load on still.

When I was at Melton orientation early this year they said they were no longer ordering APU's because the breakdown, maintenance, and driver issues with them moving to allowing idling. They even said they'd take your APU off if you requested them to and set you up for idling.

Maybe ask about this? You'll feel it in a loss in your fuel incentive but personally anything that affects my sleep on the road I gladly pay/make less to get my rest.
