Too many want to IMPRESS others with the BLINGMOBILES , when tough times hit they cannot PHANTOM having to unload the unneeded equipment , keep what you need , tighten the belts and ride out the STORM.

That's the key "Flatbed". All the good advice I got from owners who have failed, told me don't spend up your money as soon as you get it. And be prepared for "when" something happens NOT "if" something happens. Because there will be some rough seasons. To some of us it's biblical and to others it's just good sense. I have alot of respect for the guy that failed and got back up.

I tend to operate the same way, but in outlaying for 5 trucks cash it made the business cash poor and lack of operating capital. if they still had enough cooperating capital it wouldn't be a problem, but paying cash to the point of not having operating capital is a nail in the coffin. credit used wisely can be a good thing, its a double edged sword.

sometimes paying cash isn't a good thing if you restrict your ability to operate. in their case it killed them

or maybe buy five good used trucks would have been better, i have only bought one new vehicle in my life, that was my motorcycle

everything else is used, why lose 20% driving out the door when you dont have to?

i avoid banks like the plague, they are nothing short of blood suckers, in spite of any profits you may get after dealing with them

the richest industries in the world are insurance companies and banks, not for good reasons either

My old boss has 25 custom rigs and trailers, average cost new to pair them up is near 300k. But, he has always made money with them and continues today to require his trucks and trailers to be top notch and look new even years after being placed in service.

I do the same thing , my equipment is top notch and kept that way. But difference is that when you CAN afford the $ to run an outfit in that manner it pays off , too many want to start off that way and it does not always workout.
